Diamond Jewelry Take Pride of Place, Followed by Colored Stone and Pearl Jewelry at the Golden Globe Awards 2014

The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards was held at the Beverley Hilton Hotel, in Beverley Hills, California, on Sunday, January 12, 2014. Such Star-studded, glittering events, with a worldwide TV audience, while serving its primary purpose of recognizing and bestowing honors on talented actors and actresses in the competitive field of cinema and television, has also become an ideal platform to showcase the latest trends in the world of fashion and jewelry designing. World renowned companies in the field of Haute Couture and fine jewelry manufacturing, use such mega events with a worldwide audience, to showcase their products, making use of popular actors and actresses as ambassadors to promote their products.
The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards was no exception considering the pieces of fine jewelry of the latest designs from renowned jewelry houses worn by the beautiful and talented Hollywood actresses. Impossible star Naomi Watts impressed the audience with her Bulgari necklace of gold and diamonds and Bulgari vintage Serpenti watch-bracelet. Lord of the Rings star Cate Blanchett impressed the crowd with Chopard diamond earrings with 11-carat marquise-cut white stones from the Green Carpet Collection. “12 Years a Slave nominee” and fashion “it” girl Lupita Nyong’o wore Fred Leighton gold diamond studs, which were approximately two carats each.

The starlet that donned some of the most valuable diamond jewelry was definitely Giuliana Rancic. The E! News anchor opted for a giant cocktail ring with a 14-carat, oval-cut diamond and a pair of studs from Forevermark Diamonds, which added up to around a cool $3 million. However, the most expensive diamond jewels worth $8 million from the Lorraine Schwart’z collection, including a yellow gold, 30-carat diamond, pendant was donned by Amy Adams, winner of the Best Actress – Comedy/Musical – Award. The “Wolf of Wall Street” actress, Margot Robbie’s diamond clip-on earrings were the perfect match for her silver and white floor-length Gucci dress, and her pulled back hairdo put the gigantic gems on display for all to see.

Apart from diamonds, pearls and colored stones too, set on modern trend setting designs made a statement of their own on the delicate ears, fingers, hands and neck of the beautiful ladies competing for honours.The most outstanding colored stone jewelry piece was the turquoise chandelier earrings by Neil Lane donned by “American Horror Story : Coven” actress Emma Roberts. Another stunning turquoise piece by Lorraine Schwartz was the turquoise statement necklace worn by “Modern Family” nominee Sofia Vergara. Best supporting actress in a motion picture, Jennifer Lawrence in “American Hustle” chose a pair of green jade drop-earrings. Helen Mirren, nominated for Best actress in a mini-series or TV movie for her role in “Phil Spector” wore striking emerald earrings by Bulgari. “The Big Bang Theory” star Kaley Cuoco chose Ruby drop-earrings by Brumani.

Pearl jewelry was not left out of this extravaganza, and one piece that no doubt attracted attention was the earpin or earclip worn by Rashida Jones, whose show “Parks and Recreation” was nominated for the Best TV-series, Comedy or Musical. The earclip is made up of a row of four graduated pearls. Another pair of pearl earrings that attracted attention was the one worn by Harry Potter starlet Emma Watson. Emma’s Dior earrings feature a small and large pearl connected by a bar that passes through the ear lobe.

Amy Poehler, who successfully co-hosted the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards with Tina Fey, and was also adjudged the winner of the Best Actress in a TV-series, musical or comedy, for her role in “Parks and Recreation” became a worthy ambassador for Jacob & Co. jewels, sporting a Jacob & Co. golden cuff and pair of gold earrings at the beginning of the show and changing over to Jacob & Co. chandelier earrings and diamond bracelets towards the end.
