Bonhams California Jewels Sale is scheduled to be held on June 19, 2018, starting at 10.00 PDT, at their 7601 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles Sales Center. A total of 440 Lots will be on offer at the auctions, consisting of an array of jewels including bracelets, brooches, earrings, necklaces, rings etc. set with colored and colorless diamonds, colored gemstones such as emeralds, rubies, sapphires, amethysts, aquamarine, citrine, onyx, peridot, tourmaline, turquoise and yellow sapphires and organic gemstones such as natural and cultured pearls, corals, mother-of-pearl and seed pearls, the metals used being gold, platinum and silver.
COLORLESS DIAMOND LOTS
LOT 353 – A DIAMOND AND PLATINUM RING WITH 18K GOLD JACKET – with an estimate of US$ 15,000 – 20,000 (£ 11,000 – 15,000) is a top Colorless Diamond Lot of the sale. Ring size 7 ¼ platinum ring is claw-set with a cut-cornered rectangular step-cut/emerald-cut colorless diamond, weighing approximately 6.40 carats, flanked by a bullet-shaped colorless diamond on its shoulders. The ring is surrounded on either side by an 18k yellow gold jacket.
LOT 438 – A DIAMOND, SAPPHIRE AND PLATINUM RING – with an estimate of US$ 8,000 – 12,000 (£ 6,000 – 9,000) is another Colorless Diamond highlight of the sale. Ring size 7 ½ platinum ring has as its center piece a bezel-set cut-cornered, rectangular step-cut/ emerald-cut colorless diamond, weighing approximately 3.50 carats, the gallery of the ring crafted in the same octagonal shape as the diamond, and the space between the central diamond and the border of the gallery highlighted by variously cut blue sapphires such as square, rectangular and rhomboidal shapes. The hoop of the ring is also set with two rows of rectangular-cut sapphires, the center of the hoop occupied by a bezel-set band of square-cut and rectangular-cut colorless diamonds, starting from the gallery from either side of the central emerald-cut diamond.
LOT 396 – A DIAMOND AND PLATINUM RING – with an estimate of US$ 5,000 – 7,000 (£ 3,700 – 5,200) is a significant Colorless Diamond Lot in the sale. Ring size 7, platinum ring is set with a colorless round brilliant-cut diamond weighing approximately 2.30 cts on a hexagonal-shaped gallery, accented by two smaller brilliant-cut on either side on the shoulders of the ring.
LOT 431 – A SAPPHIRE, DIAMOND AND PLATINUM BRACELET – with an estimate of US$ 4,000 – 6,000 (£ 3,000 – 4,500) is another significant Colorless Diamond Lot. Length 6 ¼ ins (15.9 cm) Art Deco platinum bracelet is of geometric design, has a central navicular-shape motif set with circular-cut diamonds and lined by rectangular-cut blue sapphires, with three other symmetrical geometric motifs on either side, set with circular-cut diamonds, and the motif just before the arms of the bracelet centered around a square-cut blue sapphire and also set with circular-cut diamonds. The border of the central motif is lined on either side by a single row of circular-cut diamonds. The arms of the bracelet are set with pairs of square-shaped motifs set with a large circular-cut diamond in the center. Each arm of the bracelet has 9 such pairs of square-shaped motifs, while the arm on the right has an additional pair on the clasp. Estimated total weight of diamonds is 3.95 carats and gross weight is approximately 26 grams.
LOT 422 – A DIAMOND AND GOLD PANSY BROOCH – with an estimate of US$ 4,000 – 6,000 (£ 3,000 – 4,500) is another colorless diamond lot of the sale. The 18k yellow gold brooch of dimensions 1 5/8 x 2 in (4.13 x 5.08 cm) is designed as a flower with five petals around a circular-cut diamond pistil, each petal set with several rows of circular-cut diamonds, the rows demarcated by yellow gold veins, and the yellow gold stalk also set with circular-cut diamonds. Estimated total weight of diamonds approximately 8.75cts.

LOT 373 – A COLORED DIAMOND, DIAMOND AND 18K TRI-COLOR GOLD RING – with an estimate of US$ 6,500 – 7,500 (£ 4,900 – 5,600) is a top Colored Diamond Lot of the sale. Ring size 7, 18k tri-color gold ring is claw-set with a brown round brilliant-cut diamond weighing 3.04cts, highlighted by an inner row of pink diamonds and two outer rows of colorless circular-cut diamonds. Total weight of accenting diamonds 0.95 carat
LOT 320 – AN ART DECO COLORED DIAMOND, DIAMOND AND PLATINUM RING, circa 1915 – with an estimate of US$ 5,000 – 7,000 (£ 3,700 – 5,200) is another top highlight among Colored Diamond Lots. Ring size 6, platinum ring is bezel-set with a colorless cushion-cut diamond and a brown pear-shaped brilliant-cut diamond, highlighted by a row of circular-cut diamonds, further accented by circular-cut diamonds on the bifurcated shoulders and upper hoop of the ring. The brown pear-shaped brilliant-cut diamond weighs approximately 0.95 carats. The cushion cut diamond weighs approximately 0.95 carats.
Lot 425 – A COLORED DIAMOND, DIAMOND AND PLATINUM RING – with an estimate of US$ 3,000 – 5,000 (£ 2,200 – 3,700) is a significant Colored Diamond Lot of the sale. Ring size 5 ¾ platinum ring of openwork design is set with a light brown, old European-cut diamond weighing approximately 2.10 carats, as centerpiece flanked by two circular-cut colorless diamonds on either side set on the openwork shoulders of the ring.
Lot 325 – TWO COLORED DIAMOND AND GOLD RINGS – with an estimate of US$ 1,000 – 1,500 (£ 750 – 1,100) is another Colored Diamond Lot of the sale. Ring size 6 ¾ yellow gold rings are each bezel set with a modified cushion-cut colored diamond of matching sizes, one a grey diamond and the other a black diamond.
LOT 288 – A SAPPHIRE, DIAMOND AND PLATINUM RING – with an estimate of US$ 4,500 – 5,500 (£ 3,400 – 4,100) is a top highlight among Sapphire Lots. Ring size 6, platinum ring is claw-set with an oval mixed-cut sapphire of dimensions 15.29 x 11.25 x 7.52 mm, highlighted by circular-cut diamonds along the vertical and horizontal directions and baguette diamonds in the intermediate directions. Estimated total weight of diamonds approximately 2.10 carats.
LOT 376 – A STAR SAPPHIRE, DIAMOND AND 18K GOLD RING – with an estimate of US$ 3,000 – 5,000 (£ 2,200 – 3,700) is another sapphire highlight of the sale. Ring size 10, 18k yellow gold ring is bezel-set with an oval cabochon star sapphire of dimensions 10.40 x 10.60 x 13.90 mm, flanked on either side by a tapered baguette-cut diamond set in the middle of the V-shaped shoulders.
AGL report CS55021, dated May 23, 2013, states the sapphire is a Natural Corundum, a Star Sapphire of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) origin, with no indications of heat enhancement.
LOT 358 – A SAPPHIRE, DIAMOND AND PLATINUM RING – with an estimate of US$ 2,500 – 3,500 (£ 1,900 – 2,600) is another sapphire lot in the sale. Ring size 5 ½ platinum ring is claw-set with an oval mixed-cut sapphire weighing 7.80 carats, highlighted by a row of colorless circular-cut diamonds. Total weight of colorless diamonds 2.40 carats.
AGL report no. 1073140, dated January 29, 2016, states that the Sapphire is natural of Thailand origin, with heat enhancement.
LOT 310 – A JADEITE JADE, DIAMOND, GOLD AND PLATINUM RING – with an estimate of US$ 4,000 – 6,000 (£ 3,000 – 4,500) is a significant Jadeite Lot of the sale. Ring size 6 ½ gold and platinum ring is bezel-set on yellow gold with an oval cabochon jadeite jade with dimensions of 16.05 x 11.20 x 4.21 mm, highlighted by a colorless circular-cut diamond surround. Estimated total weight of diamonds approximately 3.00 carats
Mason Kay report no.180314-1206, dated March 14, 2018, states that the jadeite is a natural jadeite jade with no dye or polymer detected and known in the trade as ‘A’ Jade.
LOT 309 – A JADEITE JADE BEAD AND GOLD NECKLACE – with an estimate of US$ 3,000 – 5,000 (£ 2,300 – 3,800) is another significant Jadeite Lot. The 22 ins (56 cm) matinee length two-strand jadeite bead necklace consists of beads ranging in diameter from 9.1 mm to 9.3 mm
Mason Kay report no. 180215-14384, dated February 15, 2018, states that the beads are natural jadeite jade with no dye or polymer detected, known as ‘A’ Jade.
LOT 345 – A JADEITE JADE, DIAMOND AND GOLD RING – with an estimate of US$ 2,500 – 3,500 (£ 1,900 – 2,600) is a significant Jadeite Lot of the sale. Ring size 5, yellow and white gold ring is set on yellow-gold with five circular cabochon jadeites, centering around an old brilliant-cut diamond forming a floral rosette, highlighted by a single layer of circular-cut diamonds set on white gold. Estimated total weight of diamonds is approximately 3.00 carats.
LOT 423 – A PAIR OF CARVED EMERALD, DIAMOND, SILVER AND 18K GOLD EARRINGS – with an estimate of US$ 2,000 – 3,000 (£ 1,500 – 2,200) is an emerald lot of the sale. Each of the pair of silver and 18k gold earrings, 1.00 in (2.54 cm) long is of floral design with an emerald and diamond floret, the carved emerald floret having 8 petals centering around a small circular-cut diamond, and the diamond floret set on silver with five pear-shaped diamonds around a central circular-cut diamond. Two pear-shaped cabochon emeralds are set on 18k yellow gold, below the carved emerald floret. Two other pear-shaped colorless diamonds are mounted on silver on either side of the carved emerald floret.
LOT 312 – AN EMERALD, DIAMOND AND 18K WHITE GOLD RING – with an estimate of US$ 2,000 – 3,000 (£ 1,500 – 2,300) is another emerald lot of the sale Ring size 6 1/4 , 18k white gold ring is claw-set with an oval cabochon emerald of dimensions 9.84 x 8.00 mm, highlighted by a two-row colorless circular-cut diamond surround, and further accented by circular-cut diamonds on the upper hoop and shoulders of the ring.
LOT 305 – AN EMERALD, DIAMOND, SILVER AND GOLD BROOCH – with an estimate of US$ 1,500 – 2,500 (£ 1,100 – 1,900) is another emerald lot. The silver and gold brooch of length 7/8 in (2.2 cm) is bezel-set on yellow gold with a rectangular emerald-cut emerald, surrounded immediately by two rectangular rows of circular-cut diamonds also set on yellow gold, followed by two more rows of circular-cut diamonds set on silver. Estimated total weight of diamonds approximately 1.20 carats.

RUBELLITE TOURMALINE LOT
LOT 317 – A RUBELLITE, DIAMOND AND PLATINUM PENDANT, Orianne – with an estimate of US$ 10,000 – 12,000 (£ 7,500 – 9,000) is a top highlight among colored gemstone lots. The platinum link chain necklace of length 19 ¾ ins (50 cm) suspends an octagonal-shaped platinum pendant of geometric design, signed Orianne, double claw-set at the center with a cushion mixed-cut rubellite weighing 28.91 carats, the design itself set throughout with circular-cut diamonds, and the vacant spaces set with variously cut rubellite pieces.
GIA report no. 2161645201, dated October 08, 2014, states that the tourmaline is a Rubellite.
LOT 393 – A KUNZITE, COLORED DIAMOND AND WHITE GOLD PENDANT NECKLACE – with an estimate of US$ 5,000 – 7,000 (£ 3,700 – 5,200) is another colored gemstone lot of the sale. The pendant necklace with an 18 ins (45.7 cm) long white gold link neckchain suspends a pendant composed of a claw-set fancy cushion mixed-cut kunzite of dimensions 32.00 x 26.50 x 16.65 mm from a surmount made of three colored diamonds, a lower bezel-set elongated trapezoid-shaped diamond, a middle collet-set circular-cut colored diamond and an upper collet-set rhomboidal-shaped colored diamond linked to the neckchain from upper two adjacent sides. Estimated total weight of colored diamonds approximately 1.10cts, but the colored diamonds have not been tested for origin of color.
MULTI-COLORED GEMSTONE LOT
LOT 428 – A DIAMOND, JADE, AMETHYST AND PLATINUM CHARM BRACELET, circa 1930 – with an estimate of US$ 6,000 – 8,000 (£ 4,500 – 6,000) is a significant Colored Gemstone lot of the sale. Length 7 ins (17.8 cm) platinum Cartier bracelet, the clasp signed Cartier, designed around the year 1930, consists of 18 segments linked by rings, the year 1930 designed in platinum and set with circular-cut diamonds suspended from the link after the first three segments from the right. A collet-set circular-cut diamond is placed after the 4th segment and three segments after that a puppy designed in platinum and set with circular-cut diamonds is suspended. Two segments after that a second collet-set circular-cut diamond is placed.
Two segments after the collet-set diamond a carved green jade elephant is suspended, followed by another collet-set circular-cut diamond three segments after the jade elephant. A single segment after the collet-set circular-cut diamonds a carved amethyst elephant is suspended. The clasp signed Cartier follows three segments after this.
LOT 405 – A TURQUOISE, EMERALD, RUBY AND 18K GOLD BRACELET, D.K. Maltin – with an estimate of US$ 3,500 – 5,000 (£ 2,600 – 3,700) is another Colored Gemstone highlight of the sale. The 18k gold bracelet of length 7 ins (17.8 cm), signed D.K. Maltin, is designed as a linear series of 9 oval-shaped yellow gold plaques, bezel-set with an oval-shaped cabochon turquoise at the center and the surrounding plaque decorated with floral and other motifs, the edges of the plaque set with pairs of half-moon shaped cabochon turquoise, emeralds and rubies placed at three pairs of opposite cardinal points. The oval-shaped yellow gold plaques are connected together by twisted gold links, suspending a short pendant from the link with four plaques on the left and five plaques on the right. The pendant suspends a carved yellow gold sphere set with cabochon turquoises inside rhomboidal areas of the sphere.
CULTURED PEARL LOTS
LOT 392 – A COLORED CULTURED PEARL, CULTURED PEARL, DIAMOND AND 18K WHITE GOLD HINGED BANGLE – with an estimate of US$ 2,500 – 3,500 (£ 1,900 – 2,600) is a significant cultured pearl lot of the sale. The 18k white gold hinged bangle of diameter 2 1/8 ins (5.4 cm) is set throughout with circular-cut colorless diamonds, the ends of the bangle set with a spherical grey cultured and a spherical white cultured pearl of diameter 12.3 mm and 12,4 mm respectively. Estimated total weight of diamonds 1.00 carat.
LOT 421 – A PAIR OF CULTURED PEARL, DIAMOND AND PLATINUM-TOPPED GOLD EAR PENDANTS – with an estimate of US$ 2,000 – 3,000 (£ 1,500 – 2,200) is another significant cultured pearl lot of the sale. Each of the platinum and yellow gold ear pendants, 2 1/8 ins long, suspends an oval to slightly drop-shaped white cultured pearl of approximate diameter 12.3 mm, by a platinum bell cap arrangement from a linear surmount of platinum and yellow gold, collet-set on platinum backed by yellow gold with six circular-cut diamonds and two navicular-shaped settings with a circular-cut diamond in the center. The upper end of the surmount carrying ear fittings is made of yellow gold. Estimated total weight of diamonds 2.25 carats.
LOT 394 – A PAIR OF CULTURED PEARL, DIAMOND AND 18K WHITE GOLD EAR PENDANTS – with an estimate of US$ 1,800 – 2,500 (£ 1,300 – 1,900) is another Cultured Pearl lot of the sale. Each of the 18k white gold ear pendants, of length 1 ¼ ins (3.2 cm), suspends a white cultured, one slightly baroque-shaped and the other button-shaped, of approximate diameter 12.5 mm and 12.3 mm respectively, highlighted by a row of circular-cut diamonds from a linear surmount, also set with circular-cut diamonds
NATURAL PEARL LOTS
LOT 420 – A DIAMOND, FRESHWATER PEARL AND PLATINUM CHOKER – with an estimate of US$ 4,000 – 6,000 (£ 3,000 – 4,500) is a freshwater natural pearl lot of the sale. The 14 ins (35.6 cm) choker length, multi-strand necklace is composed of eight strands of natural freshwater pearls, pinkish-white in color, of various shapes such as round, near-round, button-shape, oval and slightly baroque. The front central plaque of symmetrical design is set in the center with an old European-cut diamond, weighing approximately 2.05 carats. The total estimated weight of the other diamonds in the plaque is 8.95 carats. Each of the eight strands in the necklace are connected to the central plaque on either side.
