Christie’s New York, December 8 Magnificent Jewels Sale with a total of 229 lots on offer, promises to be a memorable event, featuring renowned private collections, noteworthy diamonds and colored gemstones, as well as an impressive assemblage of important signed jewels by renowned makers and jewelry houses such as Aldo Cipullo, Asprey, Bulgari, Cartier, Carvin French, Chanel, Chopard, Graff, Harry Winston, Jean Schlumberger, Marchak, Marcus & Co., Mauboussin, Oscar Heyman & Brothers, Paul Flato, Suzanne Belperron, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, and Verdura.

The sale also features an array of outstanding private collections, curated over time with special preference for top quality diamonds and colored stones, as well as remarkable signed jewels.

Among the other highlights of the sale are two diamond necklaces, worn respectively at the 71st and 72nd Academy Awards by renowned Hollywood actresses Sophia Loren and Hilary Swank and a historic 17th-century emerald bead rosary, previously belonging to the Saxon Royal Family. Rounding out the sale are contemporary jewels by leading houses such as Etcetera and JAR.

Top Lot of the sale is Lot 96A, titled A RARE COLORED DIAMOND RING – with an estimate of USD 2,200,000 – USD 3,200,000.

US ring size 6, 18k rose-gold ring is set with a cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, fancy vivid orangy-pink diamond, weighing 5.38 carats.

GIA Report No. 2215633666 states that the 5.38 carat, cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut diamond, is fancy vivid orangy-pink and natural colored with a VS2-Clarity.

The next highlight of the sale is Lot 85 – AN IMPORTANT COLORED DIAMOND AND DIAMOND PENDANT NECKLACE, with a pre-sale estimate of USD 2,000,000 – USD 3,000,000.

The necklace has a platinum link chain of length 42.8 cm, from which a pendant of length 2.8 cm is suspended. The pendant is double-claw set on 18k yellow-gold with a fancy vivid yellow, cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut diamond, weighing 70.19 carats, At the point of suspension of the pendant, a circular-cut colorless diamond is mounted.

GIA 2021 report bearing No. 5121309661, states the 70.19-carat diamond is fancy vivid yellow, natural color and VS2-clarity.

US ring size 6, platinum ring is claw-set with a cut-cornered rectangular step-cut colorless diamond weighing 16.90 carats. The gallery and the upper divided hoop of the ring are set with round-cut diamonds.

2021 Report bearing No. 11112333 states that the 16.90 carat, cut-cornered rectangular step-cut diamond is D-color, Type IIa and Internally Flawless with excellent polish and symmetry.

US Ring Size 5 ½ platinum ring, signed Tiffany & Co, is claw-set with an Emerald-Cut Colombian emerald, weighing 12.03 carats, flanked by trapezoid-shaped diamonds on the shoulders of the ring.

SSEF 2021 Report, bearing No. 118441, states that the 12.03 carats emerald is of Colombian origin, with no indications of clarity modification. An Appendix Letter accompanying the report also refers to the “Exceptional” characteristics of this emerald.

AGL 2021 Report bearing No, 1116820, states that the 12.03 carats emerlad is classic Colombian with no clarity enhancement. An Appendix Letter attests to the notable characteristics of the Emerald.
