JEWELRY AND INTERIOR DESIGN, BOTH SINGULAR AND TIMELESS, AUCTION AT RAGO ON JUNE 9-11

Lambertville, NJ – On June 9-11, 2017, Rago hosts auctions of fine jewelry and design from the early 19th century through today, including a fine selection of reserved and unreserved jewelry, a rare collection of Georg Jensen jewelry from author Dr. David Taylor and a perfectly blended Remix auction melding timeless classics with today’s favorite designs.

David Taylor Collection of Georg Jensen Jewelry: Friday, June 9 at 11AM, 34 lots
From Dr. David A. Taylor, author and editor of Georg Jensen Hollowware: The Silver Fund Collection (2003) and Georg Jensen Jewelry (2005), comes a thoughtfully curated collection of early Jensen pieces, including rare yellow gold examples and early 830 silver pieces.
In addition to his written contributions, Dr. Taylor is celebrated for serving as the curator of the largest and most comprehensive exhibition ever mounted on the subject of Jensen jewelry, sponsored by the Bard Graduate Center in New York City in 2005.

Unreserved Jewelry: Friday, June 9 at 11:30AM, 470 lots
Featuring an extensive mix of nearly 500 lots of unreserved jewelry including yellow and white gold, platinum, sterling, diamonds and gemstones. Highlights include a Cartier white gold “love” ring, a Wordley Allsopp & Bliss for Tiffany & Co. moonstone and ruby ring and an Edwardian diamond and seed pearl necklace.

Remix: Saturday, June 10 at 11AM, 308 lots
Remix is Rago’s homage to effortless style and blended design. Personality and intrigue evolve when a room is curated with the things we love. By mixing elements from history with contemporary design, the most livable and interesting spaces aren’t pinned down to a decade or design period, yet appear to have been thoughtfully collected over time.
For June’s Remix auction, Rago collected pieces that add to the enjoyment of such rooms – sexy, stylish pieces of modern design, urbane antiques, heirlooms, oddities, contemporary and classical art. These rooms were envisioned to reflect a love of place – ocean, cities, country – and a love of world travel.
Highlights include Luigi Caccia outdoor seating, bronzes from Richard Rosenblum, vintage Louis Vuitton luggage, lithographs from Louise Nevelson and a selection of articulated artist models.
“Our homes, and the rooms we create within, are the narrative of the life we live there. I’ve envisioned spaces that reflect a love of place – ocean, cities, country – and a love of world travel.”
– Arlen Sam Brown, Rago Design Director
“What makes a beautiful room one you actually want to spend time in? We think it’s a sense of effortless style that gives everyone permission to relax and enjoy. Who wants to sit on the edge of a seat, fearful of doing damage? Not us.”
– Miriam Tucker, Managing Partner

Fine & Antique Jewelry: Sunday, June 11 at 11AM, 491 lots
A not-to-be-missed sale for lovers of fine jewelry from antique to modern. Highlights include an impressive David Webb enameled frog bracelet, a Marcus & Co. star sapphire and moonstone flower brooch, a pair of late Georgian portrait miniature yellow gold bracelets, a 9.88cts Colombian emerald ring, and a selection of works from Buccellati, including a jade & yellow gold hinged cuff bracelet.
“We are thrilled to offer such a comprehensive, wearable selection of jewelry this June. The styles are many and varied. What is consistent is how pretty a sale this is, from first to last.”
– Katherine Van Dell, Rago Jewelry Department Director
