Kim Kardashian to promote Botswana Diamonds

In an effort to promote Botswana diamonds in the United States of America,  the American actress Kim Kardashian is to visit Botswana.

According to the head of De Beers in Botswana, Sheila Khama, she will be one of the participants in the diamond forum – a group helping to promote diamonds from Botswana. Other prominent members of the forum include  Kim Kardashian’s ex music producer husband Damon Thomas, the former U.S Ambassadors to Botswana, former  President, Festus Mogae, and the Central Bank governor, Linah Mohohlo. According to the Sunday Standard  of Gaborone,   Sheila Khama said ”We hope that her visit will add to the voice of the diamond fund”

The news is welcome in Botswana where the first quarter sales of rough diamonds fell by 68%. Sale of rough diamonds is the major source of income to the country. However the diamond sales last month was encouraging. All 13 sightholders also participated in the last sight. Sheila Khama also noted that the markets are improving and probably the worst is behind us, the steps taken by De Beers to suspend mining at Debswana was a good move. This prevented Debswana from facing huge costs.

During her stay Kim Kadarshian is expected to visit Jwaneng mine, Motswedi  Rehabilitation School and Diamond Trading Botswana. They are expected to arrive on Tuesday the 14th and depart on Wednesday the 15th of July.

She is also well known for the sex tape scandal in 2007 when a homemade video of her and her then boyfriend  R$B singer Ray J was leaked. She is the daughter of Robert Kardashian, who is well known for being the lawyer of O.J Simpson during his murder trial.
