The Nature of Diamonds Exhibit which started on Friday, Oct. 23, will continue till March 28th at the Chicago Field Museum.
According to the website of the Field Museum Chicago, diamonds are born from billions of years of crushing force and no other gemstone has captured the world’s imagination like diamonds.
The exhibit which contains over 1000 pieces of jewelry and gemstones is sponsored by the Grainger Foundation.
The exhibit also displays how diamonds have inspired, scientists, writers and artisans for thousands of years.
Highlights of the exhibition includes works from Tiffany & Co. designed by Frank Gehry and Elsa Peretti, pieces by Fulco di Vedura, Cartier and Boucheron.
The venue of the exhibition is the Grainger Hall of Gems. The hall has just reopened after undergoing its third renovation. It was first opened 88 years ago, in 1921.
Over 7000 square feet of space is used for the exhibition, which includes a vault where some of the worlds largest diamonds are displayed, including the flawless Incomparable Diamond with a weight of 407 carats and the Tiffany Yellow diamond.
