The NGJA –National Gem and Jewellery Authority now provides silver at subsidized rates to traditional jewelers. This gives the local jewelers an opportunity of improving their designing skills and organizing themselves so that they can manufacture products that will meet internationally acceptable standards.
The Sri Lanka assay office guarantees the purity of the silver.
On September 29th 2009 Hasitha Tillekeratne, the CEO and Chairman of the NGJA presented the 50th lot of pure silver to Mrs Rupika Perera , Proprietor of Ru Silver Jewellery at the NGJA board room.
